This is one of our most memorable meals of our lives. Totally excellent. Scallops appetizers were perfect as was the halibut entrée served on crab and asparagus risotto. World class!

During the annual FEAST ocean to table festival in Ucluelet & Tofino we try to get to new establishments we have not tried before. Norwood's was such a place. SO pleased we did. Extremely well thought out and designed restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. We were second customers in yet it felt busy. Open kitchen area is nice and three chefs busily plied their trade very professionally with mouth watering results. Great servers particularly our table server and the young lady behind the bar who was unwittingly providing amazing entertainment between courses as she mixed cocktails amazingly well. The food was remarkable. Delightful to the eye and the palate - all with a seafood influence all cooked to perfection. Presented beautifully (see pics) and filling but not overly so. The place became very busy with most tables taken I would guess it seats around 40-50. Great wine choices our Tantalus Riesling was the perfect delicate seafood accompaniment. Wonderful evening at a place that will now be firmly on our rota to return. Great food well priced and a wonderful atmosphere.
"Excellence in dining!"

This was simply the best meal we have ever had! Words cannot describe the perfection of every dish that was delivered to our table. We had the pleasure of being served by the gifted sommelier Livio, a charming, confident, soft spoken treasure. The first gift was this luxurious cocktail that Livio made himself, a cucumber infused vodka mixed with a roasted pear, blended to juicy perfection and finished with a small dribble of Lychee liqueur. This was heaven in a martini glass. The amuse bouche was a salmon tartar with a tomato jam, perfect introduction to a west coast meal. I need the recipe for tomato jam!! I started with a seared scallop and grilled octopus on a truffle potato puree with ginger chilli sauce, to date I have never had a scallop cooked that brilliantly. My husband had a chuck rib with pineapple chutney, paprika mayo with polenta fries, the meat was like melting butter it was so soft and delicious. I opted for the duck on a dumpling of prawn, again perfectly prepared and presented, I wanted to share but I could not pass the plate, it was so good. My husband had the hot pepper smoked salmon, with fiddle heads and tomato fennel salsa. Fresh from the sea that day and smoked in house. Divine! Each dish was paired, thanks to Livio, with the best wine, and he knows his wine! We were so delighted and so full and with not a space for dessert opted for a cheese plate. Livio helped us with the selection and it was presented simply but elegantly with a ginger molasses crostini, again house made that was a fantastic. Need that recipe too! If we could give Norwoods a 10 it would be done. I shall dream about this place until I return. cheers

This is a very special place, what a treat! Amazing food, and warm, friendly service. Everything was first class! Chef Norwood you rock! The oysters were delicious, beautifully presented, so tasty, chilled on a bed of sea salt. Also, the scallops and octopus were sublime, great taste combination and seared to perfection. Everything from the food, to the wine, the service, the ambiance, and the company was exquisite. Such a wonderful evening, loved this place! Highly recommend!!
"Best Restaurant on Vancouver Island"

Just had a most fantastic evening at Norwoods. It was full on arrival and we were given seats at the bar, which turned out to be the best seats in the restaurant. Banter all night with the delightful Kelly (with a Y), she made an exceptional experience absolutely great fun.
Food is a fusion of Far East and Classic European, the best of both. We had Cantonese style Chuck Ribs, that just melted in you mouth. Followed by Seared Local Albacore Tuna and Halibut, Risotto with and beautiful tomato reduction.
We rounded off with a pate of BC cheese and a tea digestive mixed with amaretto, Cointreau, Orange and Cinnamon.
It is a pity that Michelin Inspectors can't get to places like this, it is like an oasis in an otherwise deserted town. Well done to Richard, Kelly and the rest of the team.
